Dog Boarding services are not available in the Bay Area. Dog Boarding and Daycare services are only available in Calaveras County.
Dogs get to stay and play in our loving home environment!
Dogs have free roam of our home and yard at all times. We even take dogs on walks and occasionally to the dog park.
Our Dog Boarding Services are specifically tailored for dogs that are under 30lbs. We can occasionally board bigger dogs in some circumstances – just ask us!
We do not board cats. However, we have three wonderful cats of our own that are “dog-friendly”. Therefore, we cannot board dogs that are not “cat-friendly”.
We will plan a “meet and greet” appointment with you and your dog prior to acceptance of your Dog Boarding booking. Favorable results will allow for a time that your dog can attend a day care “test” stay.
To attend Dog Boarding at Bay Area Pet Pals, your dog should be:
- Spayed or Neutered and under 30lbs. (in most cases)
- at least 1yr old and fully house trained (no pee pads)
- social with other dogs and “cat-friendly”
- recently bathed and have trimmed nails
- current vaccinations: DHLPP (or similar), Bordetella (kennel cough), and Rabies
- treated with flea & tick control such as: Front Line®, Advantage®, Comfortis®, Serresto®, or Revolution®
- wearing a secure collar with clearly marked ID tags
- not overly protective of toys or food
- non-aggressive
Things to bring for your dog:
- Pre-packaged food in sealed Ziploc bags that is measured out for each feeding. We cannot free feed your dog as their diets can vary. It is a good idea to include enough food for a few extra feedings in case your arrival home gets delayed.
- Bed or blanket, favorite toys and treats, or any other items that help your dog feel at home
- A standard working leash (not a retractable style)
- Crate if you prefer that your dog use it (or if it adds to their comfort)
- Any vitamins or medications your dog requires (medications may require an extra charge. be sure to confirm in advance if you need this service)
A stay at Bay Area Pet Pals will be a warm and fun time for your dog. We look forward to having your best friend visit us soon!

Scheduling: Please schedule your Dog Boarding early in order to ensure availability. Quoted fees are determined by your stated pick-up and drop-off times. If the timing changes at any point, then prices may change as well. Also let us know of any “special needs” your dog may have or if you need any medications given as this may change your price or our availability.
Pre-Payment Policy is strictly enforced: Remember that fees for boarding need to be paid in advance at the time of booking. Full payment is due within 7 days from the time of the booking. Failure to pay within 7 days will result in cancellation of your requested dates for boarding.
Emergency Vet Care Policy: We will never leave an ill or injured pet untreated in an emergency. It is a requirement that we have your consent to use either your specified Veterinarian or one of our choosing. If your Vet/Clinic/Pet Hospital is not available or is too far away, we will use one of our local pet emergency service providers. We will make every attempt possible to contact you in any such emergency. If we do not have a sitter who is available to stay at the Vet with your pet, it could be required that your pet remain in the Vet’s care and be picked up later. If by any chance the Vet is recommending additional care, your pet may need to be boarded at the Vet/Clinic/Pet Hospital. If we cannot reach you, we will do what is in the best interest of your pet and follow the professional opinion of the Veterinarian.
You must agree to cover the possible emergency medical care when booking services with us to a minimum of $500, and also provide credit card information to Bay Area Pet Pals prior to your absence in case we cannot reach you for any reason. There may also be a fee of approximately $35 per hour for transport, waiting at the Vet/Clinic/Pet Hospital, and/or picking up any prescribed pet medication.
Cancellation Policy: Pease ensure that cancellations are made at least 30 days in advance. Scheduled Dog Boarding Services canceled with less than 30 days’ notice will typically not be eligible for a refund.
Ensure all updates, modifications, or cancellations are communicated in writing through our website contact form or directly to: lynda@bayareapetpals.com.
Pet Supplies: We ask that you leave enough supplies for your dog(s) while you are away. If we have to go shopping to purchase food or other items, there is an additional $50 fee as well as the cost of goods.
Drop-off or Pick-up Times: If there is any change in your drop-off or pick-up time, please notify us immediately so that we may make adjustments to our schedule and your payment record. If dogs are picked up after 11:30am on their scheduled departure day, an additional daycare fee will have been applied over and above the nightly boarding rate. If your dog(s) are not picked up or dropped off at the agreed on times there will be an extra charge.
Please Note: I plan my free time based on the drop off and pick up times that we agree to. It has become increasingly difficult to keep my own commitments when clients are not coming by at the times we have agreed upon. I will be implementing an additional fee for late drop offs and pick ups for daycare or boarding. $25 for each 30 minutes or portion there of. I do realize flights are occasionally delayed and this cannot be avoided. Of course, we will work around these types of situations with you as best we can.
Emergency Contact: You will be asked to provide an emergency contact that can be called to pick up your dog if your dog becomes destructive, acts in any aggressive manner, keeps us awake at night, etc. No refunds will be given in this case. If you cannot provide an alternate place for your pet in this type of situation, one will be chosen by Bay Area Pet Pals and you will be billed and responsible for the charges from the other pet care giver. This has never happened due to the pre-screening process, but be aware that things can happen that are unforeseen.
